GCISD has named Joshua Cassada as the new Colleyville Elementary Principal. Trustees approved the appointment at the May 22 Board of Trustees Meeting.

Currently in his 16th year in education, Cassada is an assistant principal at Colleyville Middle School. Prior to joining GCISD in 2022, he served in the same role in Irving ISD at both the elementary and middle school levels since 2018. He also has experience as a special education math and ELAR academic specialist, an ESL teacher in fourth and fifth grade, and a sixth grade math teacher.

“We’re excited to welcome Josh as the next principal of Colleyville Elementary,” Superintendent Dr. Brad Schnautz said. “He has been leading admirably at CMS and his established relationships with many of the same families will be a great benefit to the campus community.”

Before his career in public education, Cassada served five years of active duty in the United States Marine Corps, where he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

“I am honored to have this opportunity to serve as principal of Colleyville Elementary School,” Cassada said. “I am committed to the success of every child, and I look forward to working collaboratively with the entire CES community to build upon the amazing things that are already in place.”

Cassada has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and Master of Education in Administrative Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. He will begin his new role in July 2023.
