EARLY ARRIVALS: Students in grades Pre-K through 5 may arrive at school as early as 7:15 a.m. There will be staff for supervision in the gym for grades PK-2 and in the cafeteria for grades 3-5. On site child care by the district-run KidzU is available from 6:30 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. and from after school until 6:30 p.m. Please see the District website (www.gcisd-k12.org) for more information.

BUS SERVICE: Bus service for grades K through 5 is available to those students who live two miles or more from school and/or east of Colleyville Blvd. A schedule of bus numbers and times is available on the internet at www.gcisd-k12.org. Our GCISD Transportation Department may be reached at 251-5590.

ABSENCES: Please call the school to inform us of your child's absence and send a written explanation upon the child's return to school. Students will be recorded as tardy if they are not in the classroom at 7:40 a.m. Students leaving school before 2:55 p.m. will accrue an unexcused partial day absence unless a note is received by the office from a licensed physician and/or dentist for an appointment on the day of the partial day absence.

DOCTOR/DENTIST APPOINTMENT: In the event a doctor or dentist appointment must be scheduled during the day, a parent must come to the school office and sign the student out. Upon return, even if it is the next day, please have the student bring a note from the doctor/dentist to the office.

LUNCHES: Lunches are $2.60. You may send a check or cash in any amount. A computerized account will be kept, and your child will charge his/her lunches against his/her account. In addition to the regular menu, baked potatoes and salads are also available for students. Students may purchase extra milk for an additional $0.75. Snacks will be an additional $0.50 or more. If you do not wish to have "extras" purchased by your child, please complete the "Note on Meal Account Form" found in the GCISD Calendar Menu. We invite you to eat lunch with your child at a cost of $3.35. All of these prices are subject to change.

FORGET ME NOT TABLE: Anytime your child forgets to bring something to school, including their lunch, please leave it on the Forget Me Not Table in the office foyer, clearly labeled in large letters with their first and last names and their teacher's name. Students are instructed to periodically check the table for items they have forgotten. This helps minimize interruptions to instructional time.

MEDICINES: If your child must receive medicine at school, there are special procedures to be followed. Please refer to the GCISD Student Handbook or call the school nurse for help.

DRESS CODE: Students at Colleyville Elementary may wear shorts, but shorts must extend at least to the mid-thigh and allow students to stand, sit, and bend with modesty. Clothing which advertises alcoholic beverages and tobacco products is not permitted. Tank tops and "wheelies" are also not permitted. Caps/hats may not be worn in the school. Please refer to the GCISD Student Handbook for a more detailed description of the GCISD Dress Code. If students are ever in doubt about the appropriateness of any attire, it is best for them to check with the teacher or the office before it is worn. Tennis shoes are required for PE.

BUILDING VISITORS: All visitors (including volunteers) must sign in at the office and obtain a name badge before entering the instructional area. A name badge must be worn at all times while visiting and /or volunteering in the building. Please remember that younger siblings are not appropriate visitors in the classrooms while you are volunteering.

PLEASE NOTE: Pets are not allowed anywhere on campus due to students with severe allergies.

CELEBRATIONS: During the course of the year, each class celebrates with a winter party and a Valentine's Day party and the entire campus celebrates Fun Day in May. Birthdays may be celebrated at school with small non-edible items such as stickers, pencils or small erasers. Please do not have flower and/or balloon bouquets delivered to school for your child. They will not be delivered to your child's classroom nor allowed on the bus to go home. Birthday invitations cannot be distributed at school during school hours. Parents may use contact information from the school directory published by the PTA to distribute invitations by mail.
