I knew in high school that I wanted to teach and help enrich children's lives because I was happiest anytime I was volunteering at Hope Wall School, a school for students with significant delays. I started my journey in education at Northern Illinois University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus in Special Education. After graduation, I taught for 2 years in DeKalb, Illinois before moving to Texas to be closer to family. I became part of the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD family in June of 2000 where I worked as a resource/inclusion teacher at Dove Elementary for 5 years. I was fortunate enough to rejoin GCISD at Colleyville Elementary as a Special Education teacher in January of 2009 after enjoying the blessing of being a stay-at-home mom with my 2 children, TJ and Jaidyn. My goal as an educator is to earn the trust and respect of my students and their families so we can all work together to help them see they are capable of achieving anything they set their minds on. I truly LOVE teaching and getting to witness my students' joy when they read that tricky sentence or solve a puzzling problem and they are as proud of themselves as I am! It is a privilege and honor to be given the opportunity to impact a young child's life!
