Amanda Hernandez

Mrs. Hernandez with her family

My name is Amanda Hernandez and I am the CES Counselor!
This will be my third year in GCISD and my sixth year in education. Prior to becoming a school counselor I taught Pre-K and Kindergarten. I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary and Special Education from Texas Tech University and my graduate degree in School Counseling from Dallas Baptist University.
I have been married to my husband, Adam, for 5 years. We welcomed our son, James Michael in March of 2018! We have one spoiled yellow lab named Queso who is getting used to his new brother.
Adam works for Southwest Airlines and our favorite thing to do is travel together.
I also love to read, sing, paint and workout!

My goal as the school counselor is to provide a safe, stable and nurturing environment for students to learn and grow. I do this by providing guidance lessons once per month to each grade level on specific character traits such as kindness, problem-solving and self-esteem. I also provide small groups and individual counseling to students who may need additional social-emotional support
in order to be successful in the classroom.
I am also here to support you as parents and am always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding your student. We must work as a team to give these children the care and support they need and deserve!
